Azer Askerov was born on May 29, 1966, in Baku in an intellectual family.
HIGH SCHOOL
In 1973, he went to the first grade of English-language school No. 189 in Baku. At the same time, his parents enrolled him in the freestyle wrestling department. At that time, judo units were opened in Baku, as judo was officially allowed in the former USSR.
SPORTS ACTIVITIES
Since 1976, Azer Askerov continued his secondary education at the Republican Sports School of Olympic Reserve (now the Olympic Sports Lyceum). His first coach was Ruslan Abdullayev. SPORTS MASTERY
By the time he graduated from high school in 1983, he was already a candidate for master of sports. In the same year, Azer Askerov entered the Azerbaijan State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports (now the Academy). While studying in the first year of high school, he participated in the republican championship in judo and won the prize, fulfilling the norm of a master of sports.
MILITARY SERVICE
In 1984 he was sent to military service as a master of sports.
He began his service at the military training center in Odintsovo, Moscow region, where he defended the sports honor of the Moscow Military District. He participated in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling and sambo championships and won prizes, as judo was not yet included in the sports competitions of the USSR Armed Forces.
After completing his military service, Azer Askerov continued his higher education and graduated from the institute in 1989 with a degree in coaching.
BUSINESS ACTIVITY
As a result of the reforms launched in the Soviet economy at that time, it became possible to engage in private and collective business in various fields. Azer Askerov decides to start a business in the production of confectionery and bakery products. For this purpose, he creates a cooperative with his friends. Shortly after, he tested himself in the field of catering.
Azer Askerov already had some experience in the private sector when Azerbaijan began to build an independent state and transition to new economic relations. At a time when a favorable business environment has been created in the country and state support has been provided for the development of entrepreneurship, he decides to take part in larger projects. During his work in the bakery industry, Azer Askerov was well aware of the high demand for grain products in our country.

Since 1997, it has been importing grain from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan.

In 1999, he moved his business to Kazakhstan, and until 2003 he was actively involved in the supply of grain from this country to Azerbaijan.
DEVELOPMENT IN AZERBAIJANI BUSINESS
During the visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Kazakhstan on March 1-2, 2004, Azer Askerov call for Azerbaijani businessmen living and working here and inviting them to invest in their homeland also turned the business activity of Azer Askerov. At that time, along with the supply of grain, he was implementing successful projects in the construction sector of Kazakhstan. Azer Askerov, who turned to Baku at the invitation of the Azerbaijani leader, set up AzImport to build here. Inspired by the President's support for the development of entrepreneurship, the first projects of the businessman, who started working in the construction sector, attract attention with their modernity and quality. After that, Azer Askerov's company is invited to participate in the implementation of state orders.
RECONSTRUCTION WORKS
The first project implemented in this area is the reconstruction of the M.A. Sabir garden in Baku. The dilapidated garden is being completely rebuilt on the basis of national architectural traditions.
On the eve of the Novruz holiday in 2008, the garden is put into use by the city residents. President Ilham Aliyev, who attended the opening of the garden, praised the work done here. After that, the implementation of a number of other projects for the improvement of the capital will be entrusted to the company of Azer Askerov. Then the construction of new buildings of schools No. 6, 18, 23, 41, 132, 134 of the capital is carried out.
In 2008, the repair of the existing three-kilometer section of the Seaside Boulevard in Baku was successfully completed. The work done here is also highly appreciated, and by 2014, AzImport is working to extend the Seaside Boulevard to 16 kilometers. At the same time, the famous "Venice" cafe is being completely rebuilt.
RECONSTRUCTION WORKS
From 2007 to 2014, AzImport is landscaping 65 hectares around the Flag Square: building roads, paving sidewalks, landscaping and lighting ... Increasing the total area of the seaside boulevard from Bibiheybat to the White City - from 2.45 km to 16 km The work was carried out entirely by AzImport. Landscaping around the highway to Heydar Aliyev Airport is also one of the large-scale projects implemented by this company. In addition, AzImport participated in the improvement of suburban settlements.
Despite gaining great experience in business and being recognized as an active entrepreneur, Azer Asgarov decided to gain theoretical knowledge in the field of economics and management and get a second higher education. For this purpose, he submitted his documents to the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the country, and in 2017 he graduated from the academy with a degree in Management.

Azer Askerov is currently engaged in construction, hotel and restaurant business, agribusiness, as well as helping to develop judo and even finds time to coach.
His father Zalimkhan Mahammad oglu Askerov was born in Baku. He graduated from the Azerbaijan Institute of Physical Culture and Sports. He worked as a boxing coach.
His mother, Gasimova Elmira Aliheydar gizi, was a metallurgical engineer and worked at Tekraralvanmetal.
Azer Asgarov married in 1992. Her daughter was born in 1993 and her son in 2000. Both daughter and son have married: daughter has 3 children and son has 1 child.
