In the twentieth century, the people of Azerbaijan twice had the opportunity to build an independent state. For the first time, our statehood, which lasted twenty-three months, was restored after seventy years. But history could repeat itself – external interference and internal problems posed a great threat to our independence. Only with the coming to power of the great leader Heydar Aliyev, state-building began in Azerbaijan, and then its worthy successor was continued by President Ilham Aliyev…
Today, independent Azerbaijan is a state that demonstrates its strength and power to the whole world. It is a victorious state that ensures its territorial integrity and the security of its citizens.
The independent Azerbaijani state is the most valuable asset of our people!
Happy Independence Day!

September 27, 2020, is a glorious date for the independent Republic of Azerbaijan. In response to the next military provocation of the occupying Armenia, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief ordered our heroic Army to launch a counterattack.
Every armed conflict means death, bloodshed, and pain. But our people, whose lands are under enemy occupation, welcomed this decision, I would say, with joy. Our patriotic youth flocked to the military mobilization offices. Everyone, young and old, armed, was eager to join the army and take part in the holy war.
We have won this war – the 44-day Patriotic War: thanks to the wise and decisive military-political, diplomatic steps of President Ilham Aliyev, the unity of our people, the strength of our army, the unparalleled courage of our martyrs, veterans, and heroic soldiers, Victory has become ours!
Now September 27 is the Day of Remembrance of our martyrs who lost their lives in the Great Patriotic War.
I wish them God’s mercy and patience for their families!
Long live Azerbaijan!

New life is beginning in Karabakh and East Zangazur, purposeful work is being done to revive economic activity in our liberated territories.
The flight of the first passenger and cargo planes from Baku to the international airport, built-in Fizuli region and expected to be commissioned in the coming days, on the instructions of the President, once again confirms the speed of work.
We believe that Karabakh and East Zangazur will soon develop and prosper with the strength and power of the Azerbaijani state, the unity, and the determination of our people.

President Ilham Aliyev has awarded the athletes and their coaches who have achieved high results at the 16th Tokyo Summer Paralympic Games, as well as the leaders of the National Paralympic Committee who have contributed to the development of sports in our country. I sincerely congratulate all those who were awarded by the President!
Almost every day of the Paralympic Games gave us joy and good feelings. Our athletes worthily represented our people in this prestigious competition and showed that nothing can stand in the way of perseverance, determination, and desire. 14 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze medals are a great achievement of Azerbaijan! As a veteran judoka, I am especially happy that our parajudokas won 6 gold and 2 bronze medals and took first place in the overall medal standings.
Congratulations once again to all our athletes, I wish each of them good health, long life, new victories, and achievements!

Azerbaijan Judo Federation has appointed new coaches for our national team. Bronze medalist of the Beijing Olympics and Open World Championship Movlud Miraliyev will be the head coach. His assistants will be Elchin Ismayilov, Elkhan Rajabli, Shumshad Bahramov, Ilham Mammadov, and Zaur Babayev. As a veteran judoka, I like and welcome this decision. I believe that they will show determination to restore the glory of Azerbaijani judo and achieve high results.
Movlud Miraliyev has Olympic experience and he has great opportunities to contribute to the growth of our new Olympic hopes. His assistants are also well-known, experienced and skilled athletes. I would like to see another well-known figure in Azerbaijani judo, Rasul Salimov, a participant in the Sydney Olympics and a winner of world and European championships. I am confident that Rasul can further strengthen the coaching staff with his experience, talent, and athletic qualities.
In any case, it is commendable that the leadership of the Federation trusts the national team to the national team, and I think that successful results will not wait long.
Congratulations to each member of the staff once again, I wish them success!

Sport is a battlefield: there are victories and defeats …
It is, of course, unfortunate that our judokas did not achieve the results we wanted at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. As it is known, our Federation has made a tough decision on the coaching staff. But it is not the right approach to harshly condemn our athletes. Each of them won an Olympic license for their successful performances and victories in very prestigious international competitions.
Along with personal qualities, the factor of luck also plays a big role in sports. The competitions of this Olympics are no exception.
But let’s not forget that Azerbaijani judo has a glorious Olympic tradition. We must believe that these traditions will continue in the coming years.
By the way, I congratulate Irina Kindzerska-Aliyeva, who remained faithful to this tradition with her bronze medal in Tokyo.
I also congratulate Alfonso Dominguez and Rafig Huseynov, who won bronze medals in boxing and Greco-Roman wrestling. We have other athletes who can show high results in wrestling. Hopefully, they will make us happy.
The spirit of victory of our people is strong! Our heroic sons proved it with the victory of Karabakh.
Our chances of victory in Tokyo are not over yet. I wish perseverance and success to our athletes waiting for their turn!

The next XXXII Olympic Games have started in Tokyo, Japan. Azerbaijan is represented by 44 athletes in this prestigious competition. Our athletes have already joined competitions in several sports. Our judo team of nine people is also experiencing the excitement of the competition from today.
Yesterday we watched the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games. Judoist Rustam Orujov and taekwondo fighter Farida Azizova carried the Azerbaijani flag in the team parade. I was very proud both as a veteran judoka and a member of the Executive Committee of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation.
All representatives of our country, including our judokas, left for the Olympics with the hope of victory. I also took part in the trainings of our judokas during the preparation for the competitions. I know that they are determined and will compete in the spirit of victory.
Of course, the Olympics are the arena of the strongest. Azerbaijani athletes are participating in Tokyo 2020 as representatives of the winning country. Of course, this gives them extra moral and psychological strength.
Congratulations to the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan, our Olympic team on the start of the competitions, I wish success to each of our athletes!

Dear friends!
Commitment to the traditions and moral values of our holy religion – Islam – is to live honestly, to be useful to society. By choosing this path, we find peace of mind, attach our hearts to the Almighty God, protect our health, and gain sustenance.
Eid al-Adha also expresses the most beautiful features of Islam, calling us to purity, honesty and self-sacrifice.
On this dear holiday, first of all, we respectfully commemorate our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the noble aspirations of our people, the freedom of our lands, the territorial integrity of our country, we wish them God’s mercy and patience to their families. We wish a speedy recovery to those who lost their health on the way home.
Thanks to the unparalleled courage of our heroic servicemen, led by the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, today we celebrate our holy holiday with joy and pride as a victorious people. Long live strong and powerful Azerbaijan!
Dear brothers and sisters, happy holiday! May God accept your sacrifices and prayers!

May is a special month for me. I was born in such a beautiful time of spring, and the birthday of one of my grandchildren falls this month.
My destiny is connected with Azerbaijan, I am a child of this nation. “I am proud to be Azerbaijani!” I say this with pride. We say these words louder and with greater joy this year, when we celebrate the 98th anniversary of the birth of the glorious son of our people.
We were 28 years old:
- We spent May 8 in pain and sorrow. According to dear Shusha … Now Shusha is free!
- We could not celebrate the victory over German fascism on May 9. Now we are a victorious people today! We have destroyed Armenian fascism.
- On Republic Day – May 28, we were thinking about restoring the territorial integrity of our country. Now our state borders are intact.
Dear President, Muzaffar Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, “Karabakh is ours!” and proved this fact together with our heroic Armed Forces.
Today, Karabakh is being revived, the Road to Victory is being built in Shusha.
Heydar Aliyev’s ideas underlie all the victories and achievements of independent Azerbaijan.
We remember the memory of the great leader with great love and respect, we bow before his spirit.
We wish gratitude to our martyrs and their families who sacrificed their lives to implement his ideas – to restore the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
… The Great Leader said: “Azerbaijan will be born to the world like the sun!”
Now, this is not only a figurative expression but also a reality!
Long live independent and powerful Azerbaijan!

We celebrate the fifth anniversary of the April 2016 battles, which are a glorious page in the struggle for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and, in general, in the military history of our people. It was in these battles that the aggressor Armenia saw for the first time the strength of the modern Azerbaijani Army, the invincibility of our heroic soldiers, ensigns and officers, was defeated and forced to retreat.
The April victory was the result of the long-term purposeful work of the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, in the field of army building. The April battles were also the basis of the great Victory in the Patriotic War.
Our respect and gratitude to our servicemen, who five years ago realized the dream of victory of our people with their courage and bravery, especially to our heroes who sacrificed their lives or lost their health for the freedom of our lands, are endless.
My colleagues and I always cherish the memory of our martyrs, try to provide material and moral support to their families. We have been with the family of the legendary scout, Lieutenant-Colonel Ragub Orujov since the day he was killed, and we consider it a moral duty. In order to preserve the memory of the heroic officer, we have fully supported the writing and publication of a book about him called “Murov Eagle”. So far, the book has been published in about 5,000 copies and donated to participants of various patriotic events, as well as libraries and educational institutions.
On the first anniversary of the April Victory – in 2017, we organized an international judo tournament dedicated to the memory of Ragub Orujov and other martyrs. For the next two years, we held it as a traditional race of friendship and solidarity. Unfortunately, we had to postpone the tournament last year due to a coronavirus pandemic. We want to restore the tournament after the end of the global scourge and the permission for sporting events.
We celebrate the fifth anniversary of the April war with great joy and pride in connection with the liberation of Karabakh and the restoration of the territorial integrity of our country.
I bow before the souls of the heroic sons of our people – our martyrs and wish patience to their families.
Azerbaijan is proud of its glorious military history and brave sons!
