The next XXXII Olympic Games have started in Tokyo, Japan. Azerbaijan is represented by 44 athletes in this prestigious competition. Our athletes have already joined competitions in several sports. Our judo team of nine people is also experiencing the excitement of the competition from today.

Yesterday we watched the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games. Judoist Rustam Orujov and taekwondo fighter Farida Azizova carried the Azerbaijani flag in the team parade. I was very proud both as a veteran judoka and a member of the Executive Committee of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation.
All representatives of our country, including our judokas, left for the Olympics with the hope of victory. I also took part in the trainings of our judokas during the preparation for the competitions. I know that they are determined and will compete in the spirit of victory.

Of course, the Olympics are the arena of the strongest. Azerbaijani athletes are participating in Tokyo 2020 as representatives of the winning country. Of course, this gives them extra moral and psychological strength.

May is a special month for me. I was born in such a beautiful time of spring, and the birthday of one of my grandchildren falls this month.
My destiny is connected with Azerbaijan, I am a child of this nation. “I am proud to be Azerbaijani!” I say this with pride. We say these words louder and with greater joy this year, when we celebrate the 98th anniversary of the birth of the glorious son of our people.

We were 28 years old:

• We spent May 8 in pain and sorrow. According to dear Shusha … Now Shusha is free!
• We could not celebrate the victory over German fascism on May 9. Now we are a victorious people today! We have destroyed Armenian fascism.
• On Republic Day – May 28, we were thinking about restoring the territorial integrity of our country. Now our state borders are intact.

Dear President, Muzaffar Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, “Karabakh is ours!” and proved this fact together with our heroic Armed Forces.
Today, Karabakh is being revived, the Road to Victory is being built in Shusha.

Heydar Aliyev’s ideas underlie all the victories and achievements of independent Azerbaijan.

We remember the memory of the great leader with great love and respect, we bow before his spirit.

We celebrate the fifth anniversary of the April 2016 battles, which are a glorious page in the struggle for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and, in general, in the military history of our people. It was in these battles that the aggressor Armenia saw for the first time the strength of the modern Azerbaijani Army, the invincibility of our heroic soldiers, ensigns and officers, was defeated and forced to retreat.

The April victory was the result of the long-term purposeful work of the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, in the field of army building. The April battles were also the basis of the great Victory in the Patriotic War.

Our respect and gratitude to our servicemen, who five years ago realized the dream of victory of our people with their courage and bravery, especially to our heroes who sacrificed their lives or lost their health for the freedom of our lands, are endless.

My colleagues and I always cherish the memory of our martyrs, try to provide material and moral support to their families. We have been with the family of the legendary scout, Lieutenant-Colonel Ragub Orujov since the day he was killed, and we consider it a moral duty. In order to preserve the memory of the heroic officer, we have fully supported the writing and publication of a book about him called “Murov Eagle”. So far, the book has been published in about 5,000 copies and donated to participants of various patriotic events, as well as libraries and educational institutions.

On the first anniversary of the April Victory – in 2017, we organized an international judo tournament dedicated to the memory of Ragub Orujov and other martyrs. For the next two years, we held it as a traditional race of friendship and solidarity. Unfortunately, we had to postpone the tournament last year due to a coronavirus pandemic. We want to restore the tournament after the end of the global scourge and the permission for sporting events.

We celebrate the fifth anniversary of the April war with great joy and pride in connection with the liberation of Karabakh and the restoration of the territorial integrity of our country.

Women are the delicate being of the world, the unshakable pillar of society, the immortal beauty of life. Throughout history, Azerbaijani women have been known not only for their beauty and diligence but also for their courage and bravery, preserving and enriching the moral values ​​of our people.

Our holy religion of Islam values ​​women. The words of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) “Paradise is under the feet of mothers” indicate that the right of women and mothers is at the highest level.

This year we celebrate March 8 – International Women’s Day with the joy of our great victory in the Great Patriotic War. The brave servicemen who brought this Victory to our people liberated Karabakh from the occupation of Armenian fascism and restored the territorial integrity of our country are the children of selfless mothers, spouses of faithful women, brothers of virtuous sisters. We have martyrs who sacrificed their lives on the way to the homeland, veterans who lost their health. We bow to the mothers of our martyrs, we wish patience to their families… We wish our veterans healing.

I sincerely congratulate our dear women on the spring holiday! May your face always smile, may your joy be abundant, may your happiness be inexhaustible!

Today, our people remember one of the most tragic events in its history – the victims of the Khojaly genocide. Armenian bandits and their hated leaders, who have committed bloody crimes not only against our people but against humanity in general, have not yet been punished.

In 1994, on the initiative of great leader Heydar Aliyev, the Azerbaijani parliament adopted February 26 as the Day of the Khojaly Genocide. At the initiative of the Great Leader, the Khojaly genocide was given a political and legal assessment.

Thanks to the activities of President Ilham Aliyev, First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, as well as Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, the parliaments of a number of countries and states have already adopted documents recognizing the genocide.

However, it should be noted that this year we commemorate the Khojaly genocide with different feelings than in previous years. Under the leadership of President, victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, our brave army has shown Armenia the place it deserves. The enemy, which has been occupying our lands for 30 years, has fallen to its knees and surrendered. The whole world recognizes Azerbaijan as a winner and Armenia as a loser. The blood of Khojaly people did not remain on the ground, revenge was taken.

President Ilham Aliyev said at a press conference on February 26 this year: “Our main goal is to never forget this bloody crime, never to repeat it in Azerbaijan or in the world.

“Azerbaijan has never been as helpless as it was in the early 1990s, it has always been able to protect itself and its citizens.”

Under the leadership of President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, preparations are underway for the Great Return to the territories liberated by the brave Azerbaijani Army. The government has once again identified the private sector as one of the priorities for 2021. The government intends to involve the private sector in the financing of investment projects, to continue the promotion of public-private partnerships, to stimulate the attraction of private investment in priority areas, etc. provides for measures.

I must say that the year 2020 when we said goodbye, was remembered in my personal life with pleasant and joyful events. Almighty God showed me His grace and gave me two more sweet grandchildren: my daughter’s son Salim and my son’s daughter Adelya. It is my highest wish that they and all the children of our people live in peace, tranquility, and prosperity.
