The loss of life and destruction caused by the strong earthquake in brother Turkey caused a heavy feeling of sadness in my heart, like every Azerbaijani. I offer my deepest condolences to the families of those who died as a result of the natural disaster, ask for patience and endurance, and wish for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Dear brothers, your sorrow is our sorrow!
The Turkish people are persistent and fighting, the Turkish state is powerful and invincible!
May God help you!

On January 21, a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation (ACF) was held: the results of 2022, and goals for 2023 were discussed.
As a member of the Executive Committee, I can confidently say that the development of judo is ensured in our country, the interest of young people in this sport is increasing, new generation athletes are growing and they are achieving success in international competitions.
Last year was successful, I believe that it will be possible to reach the set goals in 2023. Our veteran and master athletes will also contribute to the development of judo.
By the way, the “Judo Club 2012” sports club concluded the last year with good results and started the new year with great hopes. Two well-known judokas, members of the national team – Said Mollayi and Zelim Kotsoyev, who started cooperating with our club in the past, please us with their successful performances. We hope that they will get a license for the next Olympic Games.
Mehdi Jafarov, one of our club’s students, took first place in the European judo cup tournament and was awarded a gold medal for us. So, our new Olympic hopes are growing…
Azerbaijani judo is developing dynamically, and we should try to increase the number of our victories every year.
I wish health and success to every member of the judo family in 2023!

Our unity and solidarity are the sources of strength for our people, the unshakable foundation of our development and victories.
Even in 2022, when the troubled days of the world have increased significantly, the excellent internal and foreign policy conducted by the Honorable President, Commander-in-Chief Mr. Muzaffar Ilham Aliyev and fully supported by our people ensured that Azerbaijan became stronger and increased its international reputation.
The power of our state and the solidarity of our people is clearly manifested in the ongoing large-scale construction works carried out in the last two years in the territories freed from occupation – Karabakh and East Zangezur, and at the beginning of the Great Return.
Today, the struggle of the patriotic children of our people against the environmental crimes committed by Armenians in the territories under the temporary control of Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh and supported by each of us is a demonstration of our unity and solidarity.
We welcome the new year 2023 in such a militant mood, with constructive determination.
Hopefully, the coming year will bring good, happy moments and great success to our people and to each of us individually!
I wish that peace reigns everywhere in our beautiful Motherland, that our people live in peace and comfort, and that every home and family have plenty of sustenance!
Happy Solidarity Day and Happy New Year, dear friends!

My jubilee notes about my Teacher with the Order of Glory
It is the anniversary of the living legend of Azerbaijani judo, Tarlan Hasanov. In my opinion, the fact that its 80th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of Azerbaijani judo fall at the same time is quite significant for those who love this sport. Tarlan Hasanov occupies a unique place among the creators and developers of the judo school in our country, and among those who popularized this sport. Bringing Azerbaijani judo to the current level of development was the main goal of his life and an integral part of his sports activities.
Teacher Tarlan’s coaching and professional experience is a good school for anyone passionate about judo like me. Today, I try to keep the traditions of this school alive within my capabilities, I do my best to make our young people benefit from it, and to pass on interest and love for judo from generation to generation.
His coaching activity and experience are a great school. It is important to keep the traditions of this school alive, to pass them on to successive generations, and to benefit from them constantly.
Azerbaijan is already known all over the world as a sports country. This is the result of the incomparable attention and care given to sports and athletes by the Honorable President, the head of the National Olympic Committee, Mr. Ilham Aliyev. The head of our state also highly appreciated the services of teacher Tarlan: he was awarded the honorary title of “Honored physical education and sportsman” in 2019, and the order of “Fame” in 2022 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation.
In Eastern martial arts, a teacher is a holy personality, an ideal, a peak. The student can never repay the debt to his teacher, this debt is not measured by any material. The relationship between the student and the teacher is based only on the feeling of gratitude… That is, the student is grateful to his teacher throughout his life. From this point of view, Tarlan Hasanov is a teacher of judo teacher in Azerbaijan. He has exceptional services in the development of judo in our country. In my opinion, there is no Azerbaijani athlete who has won a name in this type of fighting, and Tarlan’s teacher did not have a share in his success to some extent. Rasim Agamirov, Ilgar Mushkiyev, Mammadali Mehdiyev, Hidayat Heydarov, who is the coach of our Olympic champions – Nazim Huseynov (coach Aghayar Akhundzade), Elnur Mammadli (coach Yashar Allahverdi) and Tarlan teacher, who is his students, took high places in the most prestigious international competitions and gave great victories to Azerbaijani judo. they did. I believe that many talented and hopeful judokas will grow up among the children and teenagers currently taking lessons from him.
For me, the value of Tarlan Hasanov as both a teacher and a person is unparalleled.
I first met him when I was a teenager. Even now, I think that if I had started practicing judo with him, I would have achieved high achievements very early. Of course, I cannot lose my first coach Ruslan Abdullayev, who taught me the alphabet of judo at the Olympic reserve sports school (now the Olympic Sports High School). At that time, he was very young, he trained enthusiastically and took us to school competitions. But when there was an opportunity for us to participate in more prestigious tournaments, Ruslan Ahmadovich left the school…
We did not have a coach for a while. At that time, we used to go to the “Burevestnik” sports club under the Azerbaijan State Institute of Physical Education for training. It was as if no one needed us there. I mainly performed the function of sparring partner of Rasim Agamirov (now the honored coach of Russia), who is the “number one” of the national team in his weight class. In other words, I was considered someone who had no competitive prospects. However, the coach of the national team, Mr. Tarlan, was observing me… Before that, I had communicated with him only once in the junior tournament. So, during the weighing, he looked at my birth certificate and said: “Are you the son of Zalimkhan Askerov?” Say hello to your father, I am his friend,” he said. My father was a highly educated boxing specialist and was well-known in the sports world. Tarlan was in military service in Belarus together with the teacher…
Soon, my training at “Burevestnik” took on a new character. Mr. Tarlan started working with me as a personal trainer. In a short time, I became a serious competitor, even defeating Rasim in the next national championship, I managed to become “number one”. I won two gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze medal in the national championships. As part of the national team, I became a participant and even a prize-winner in all-Union and international competitions. My achievements in judo increased year by year. In 1994, I participated in the European Championship in Gdansk, Poland, in the international tournament in Germany, and the Kodokan tournament in Tokyo, Japan. I trained intensively under the guidance of teacher Tarlan. In 1995, we even planned to open a judo school in Baku together with Mr. Tarlan… I also contacted Turkey to buy judo equipment for this school…
But unexpectedly, all my plans were ruined. I experienced short-term difficulties in my personal life. Again, teacher Tarlan was always with me. He did not let me down, he stood up for me at the highest levels. He spared me the attention and care that a real teacher can give to his student… The difficulties were over and we continued our training again… I even went to the European Championship in 1997, but I couldn’t compete because of a problem with my weight. Still, I did not stop training, and when I got into shape, I had already reached the age of a veteran. In 2006, I took part in the World Championship among veteran masters for the first time and won a gold medal. Later, I became the winner and prize-winner of the European and world championships among veterans many times. Let me also say that the veterans’ movement unites all well-known judo athletes. They do not want to leave the tatami and the competitions are very interesting.
Teacher Tarlan occupies an important place in the activities of the Azerbaijan Judo Veterans Association. It plays an indispensable role in the preparation of veteran judokas for competitions.
Teacher Tarlan has so much energy and so much nobility! He is one of the rare personalities… Even now, when I practice on the tatami, I gather myself as soon as I hear Mr. Tarlan’s voice. I am a father, and a grandfather, but I still feel like a teenager in front of him…
… In the nineties of the last century, we were not lucky enough to create our judo school with Mr. Tarlan. However, in 2012, this dream came true. We created the sports club “Judo Club-2012” in the center of Baku, which has a material and technical base according to the most modern standards. Teacher Tarlan has made a worthy contribution to training a new generation of judokas in our club, which has gained prestige in the sports environment of Azerbaijan. Among them, there are winners of various international competitions.
When the World Judo Championship was held in Baku in 2018, the fact that the Japanese national team chose our club to prepare for the competition and trained here for two weeks was a very significant event for Mr. Tarlan and me. After showing high results in the championship, the Japanese held a master class for young Azerbaijani judokas in our club. During this event, the famous athletes of the country, which is considered the founder of judo, were amazed that Mr. Tarlan said the names of all the tricks in Japanese and explained their essence. Perhaps Japanese judo masters did not expect to have such a specialist in Azerbaijan. Since he knew all Japanese judo terms by heart, Mr. Tarlan was able to freely communicate with Japanese judokas… After that memorable event, his fame reached Japan. In 2019, he was awarded the “Order of Silver Ray Gundogar”, which is considered one of the most prestigious awards in this country and was presented personally on behalf of the Emperor. 115 people have been nominated for this award in the world, and only 7 of them are Japanese.
…I can remember hundreds of episodes from our joint training and tournament trips, but the main thing is that I still have an immense love and fanatical attachment to judo thanks to teacher Tarlan. It is his service that I and hundreds of Azerbaijanis like me cannot imagine their lives without judo. We, all students of Mr. Tarlan, are grateful to him for our success in sports and life because he instilled in us a love for the Motherland, the flag of Azerbaijan, and the anthem…
I believe that Tarlan Hasanov will always be an irreplaceable example for us judo veterans, as well as the future generation of judokas, with his life, personal human qualities, sportsman’s character, God-given coaching talent, and rich experience.
Azer ASGAROV,
Member of the Executive Committee of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation,
President of Azerbaijan Judo Veterans Association,
winner of world and European championships among masters and veterans,
Founder of “Judo Club 2012” sports club.
On November 8, our country will celebrate the second anniversary of the victory of the Azerbaijani Army in the 44-day Patriotic War for the liberation of 20 percent of its territory from the Armenian occupation that lasted for nearly thirty years.
This victory demonstrated the will, determination, strength and power of our army to the whole world. The victory and the name of the Supreme Commander of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces, Ilham Aliyev, were written in golden letters in the history of our nation. Under his command, our heroic soldiers, ensigns and officers showed unparalleled bravery in the battles for the liberation of the lands from Armenian oppression. I am sure that today we all know very well that we won the 44-day Patriotic War thanks to the UNITY of our people, the strength of the army, the skill of our soldiers, and the wise and decisive military-political and diplomatic steps of President Ilham Aliyev.
Unfortunately, for more than twenty years, the methods of political regulation have not produced any results. However, during these years, Azerbaijan, in addition to making efforts at the diplomatic level, purposefully prepared to solve the problem by military means. The enemy was confident in himself and the support of his lobbyists, he clearly ignored all documents and resolutions of international structures. In April 2016, Azerbaijan demonstrated its determination to liberate its lands from invaders. As a result of four days of fighting, our army managed to liberate some areas. At that time, for the first time after many years, the Armenian army was seriously damaged, and the myth of its invincibility was destroyed. Azerbaijani society has shown unparalleled support for the activities of the country’s leadership in the direction of the liberation of territories.
The people’s hope for the restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan came true in the fall of 2020!
The Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan are the guarantors of the country’s independence and the people’s well-being: this is especially important at a time when the revanchist forces incited by the followers of Dashnak ideology and radical nationalists with the support of foreign patrons want to take place in Armenia. There have already been two such attempts, and both brave sons of Azerbaijan proved that they are ready to defend the borders of the Motherland at any time. The last time, in the battle that took place on September 12-13, our army, which prevented the next provocation of the Armenians, gave them a crushing blow. After that, until they understand that they should live in peace and tranquility with their neighbors, Armenians will receive a tougher response.
Two years have passed since the Azerbaijani Army defeated the occupying forces of Armenia and the flag of Victory, a symbol of our state’s independence, was raised in all cities of Karabakh freed from occupation.
Our tricolor flag inspired the heroic soldiers of Azerbaijan to victory over the enemy in the holy war for Karabakh and gave them moral strength.
It is natural and symbolic that on November 8 and 9, all the people of Azerbaijan will celebrate two significant events in a row: Victory Day and State Flag Day… Both holidays are celebrated as the most important events in the life of the country’s citizens.
I congratulate all our military personnel on Victory Day and wish them good health and good service!
It is an immense pride and happiness to feel like a representative of the people who were able to liberate Ordus lands from Armenian occupation!
Happy Victory Day! Let the Victory flag of Azerbaijan always fly proudly over our country!!!

Many of my business meetings and sports do not allow me to spend as much time as I want with my family. But I attach special importance to warm, close relationships with my grandchildren, I always try to find time for them. When we are united by common interests, our meetings are more useful, productive, and memorable with many happy moments. The value of such communication is immeasurable.
In this photo, we are together with my grandson. This is the first time Saeed came to the hall of “Judo Club 2012” with his grandfather, and I hope it will continue. It is evident from his mood that he likes it here very much and I am very pleased with it. I would very much like him to do this beautiful, noble sport, to be recognized, and to achieve great success. In fact, it is up to him how seriously he will practice judo and how he will choose.
I would like him to make the right choice because judo is about character, strength, courage, and nobility. We all want our grandchildren to grow up with such qualities. But in order for our dreams to come true, we grandfathers must fulfill a very important social duty: we must prepare our grandchildren for a great life. This will also be our significant contribution to the education and formation of the future generation of the country.

I congratulate you on the occasion of being awarded the title of “Honorary physical education and sportsman” in connection with the 50th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, the next high award given to your activities for the sake of Azerbaijani sports.
During your brilliant sports career, you have achieved great results on the tatami. You are multiple winners of European championships, and a silver and bronze winner of prestigious competitions such as the World Cup, “Grand Slam” and “World Master” tournaments. However, the pinnacle of your sports achievements is, without a doubt, your victory, which brought great joy to our people by winning a gold medal at the Beijing Olympics and becoming an Olympic champion.
All your achievements, high titles, and awards are the logical result of your hard work and love for judo. Undoubtedly, these have had a great impact on the popularization of judo in our country and have already helped you to continue your activity as a sportsman.
Today’s Order of Honorable President Ilham Aliyev is an expression of the value given to your services as the vice-president of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation for the sake of further strengthening the image of our homeland as a sports country.
Sincerely,
Azer Asgarov
September 27 is a special day for our people. Today, we remember with deep respect our soldiers and officers who fought heroically in the Patriotic War, waved the Azerbaijani flag on our lands freed from occupation, sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of our country, and all our martyrs.
They are the heroes who gave us Victory and Pride!
Still, we have sons who honorably fulfilled their duty to the Motherland and became martyrs.
The Azerbaijani Army fulfills its duty well, and today our soldiers stand guard at the borders of our Motherland. Unfortunately, the enemy is still in a revanchist mood and is creating tension on the border.
As the Honorable President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev said: “… No one and nothing can stop us. We have protected and are protecting the rights, justice, and international law, and restored our territorial integrity… We have shown the world what we are against we showed, we liberated our lands by military means…
“The martyrs live and will live forever in our hearts… They wrote their names forever in the glorious history of the Azerbaijani people.”
May God have mercy on all our martyrs!

We created “Judo Club 2012” 10 years ago, inspired by the state’s care for sports and athletes in Azerbaijan. We set a goal to serve the development and popularization of judo sport in our country, as well as to gather veteran athletes together.
Honorable President Ilham Aliyev also participated in the opening ceremony of the club. With the blessing of the head of our state, each of us – both those responsible for the club’s activities and those who work here – have taken it upon ourselves to persevere in order to achieve the goal set on our path.
Our successes increased year by year, our collection of medals and awards was enriched, and most importantly, we brought new names and promising young athletes to Azerbaijani judo. At the same time, the club literally became a hotbed for our master judokas. They prepared for the world and European championships here and returned from those prestigious competitions with victories and medals.
The club’s students were included in the national teams of different age categories, and in international competitions, they deservedly protected the sports honor of Azerbaijan, managed to raise our flag, and sing our national anthem.
In “Judo Club 2012”, hundreds of children and teenagers learn the secrets of judo and other sports under the guidance of experienced coaches and try to reach spiritual and physical perfection.
On this significant day, I sincerely congratulate those who contributed to the activities of “Judo Club 2012”, including coaches and athletes, and all the technical staff, and wish them good health and success in sports and life!
Let’s celebrate several decades together, with joy and victories!

The news and congratulations shared by the Honorable President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev today on his official Twitter page made our people happy and made us proud once again. The heroic Azerbaijani Army is in the city of Lachin, the villages of Zabukh and Sus have been taken under control!
Having lost the Patriotic War, Armenia was forced to hand over the Lachin region without a fight… It’s just that, according to the Trilateral Declaration, some areas remained under the temporary control of Russian peacekeepers. For a period of three years… the state of Azerbaijan, our honorable President, managed to complete the necessary works in less than two years. This is another indicator of our strength and determination!
We are sure that the flag of Azerbaijan will fly on all lands belonging to our people!
Long live Lachin! Long live Azerbaijan!
Thank you Mr. President!
